3 Aces Member Focus - Ciro Lopez

How long have you been training at 3 Aces?

I have been there since day one back in 2015. I think I was registered before it was actually open!

What do you like most about 3 Aces?

I know the coaches for a long time, before 3 Aces, and they were the main reason I decided to join even if I had to commute every day all the way from NW to Kennington. Definitely training space is amazing! I've been to a few CrossFit gyms in London and for me, 3 Aces has the best training space.

What motivates you?

Getting stronger and be able to move better is a big motivation for me. Weightlifting has become a big part of my training and getting those numbers up is a priority. Every now and then I like to set a big challenge to keep me motivated, like running marathons.

Who is your biggest CrossFit inspiration or inspiration in general?

It's hard to say I have a CrossFit inspiration, I don't quite follow the games as I use to a few years ago. I do watch a bit of sports, and I enjoy watching athletes that have been the best at what they do for a very long time. Outside the world top athletes, someone that keep pushing himself towards a personal goal is inspiring, and I can see that in many of the 3 Aces members.

What goals are you working towards?

Goal number one is to get a combined total of 200 kg in weightlifting, I'm not that far off but still, need a little push. Gymnastics would be my second goal, to be more efficient at movements such as TTB, pull-ups, muscle-ups and obviously get that handstand walk!

What piece of advice would you give to someone starting on his or her fitness journey?

Don't get desperate and keep training, I know it can be very frustrating if you find a movement that you are not good at but once you achieve that movement it will make you feel very good about yourself.

Ask the coaches for advice they will be happy to help you.

Tell us something that we might not know about you?

I could have been a pro tennis player! Ok, maybe not but I was fairly good.
